US forces are dealing with roadside bombs, drive by shootings, rpg volleys, and a variety of barbaric acts by a raging insurgency yet there is simply no way on earth that they'd even think about using cluster bombs in a populated area. The reason for it is quite simple: There is no way the American public would put up with it. That's probably the saddest part about this whole cluster bomb ordeal. The blind defense of such a deplorable act by so many Israeli citizens who would rather shift blame than take responsibility for such a reprehensible act. That certainly seems to be a major difference between the two cultures. When US forces screw up and do something that is incomprehensively wrong, we want to see them punished even more than the enemies do, but in Israel it seems that no matter how insane the IDF tactics are, they will blindly support and push the blame onto someone else. This is truly sad. There is no logical defense for the IDF dropping so many cluster bombs.
