Most ministers in the security cabinet were sidelined and did not receive full information during Operation Protective Edge, according to officials who have seen a draft report by State Comptroller Joseph Shapira.09:09 05.05.16 | 0 comments
What Meshal has done is put the ball squarely in Israel's court. To ensure HAMAS recognition of Israel a Palestinian state will have to be created using the borders of the greenline as a template. Israel has already rejected this idea as they wish to retain control of all of Jerusalem, which is fair enough as in the past Jews were not allowed to pray at the Wailing Wall. So we are all at the same sticking point. Any ideas for a way forward? Mine is for an international city policed by the United Nation Security Council which will guarantee the rights of all religions to worship in freedom and safety, and in which both Israel and Palestine can have the organs of state. Or failing that a city divided as Berlin was, into Muslim, Jewish and Christian enclaves with access to their places of worship.
