The technical name for this is "there-must-be-something-to-it-because-something-similar-happened-a-long-time-ago" argument. Despite its being logical fallacy this argument is very suggestive and practically unfalsifiable in practice. By the way, with the exception of the terminal loony fringe of the web, no serious media outlet (as far as I can tell) did not as much as whispered about there "being something" in Erdogan accusations. This could be a Pulitzer-size scoop for Amir Oren. Good for him!
