.Seeing how unprepared Israel is to fight fire in a small forest near an important city,we should thank God that we have only around 5% of israeli territory covered with trees.Yes,when you see that 10000 dunams(10 km2)are already burnt, imagine the threat to Haifa if it was surrounded by 1000 km2 of forests? .One question:where is the Forest Dept. and its wardens that should be inspecting these national treasuries on a permanent basis, even instaled inside to act more quickly to fight illegal trash dumping and other antiecological activities? .The fire was discovered by a civilian airplane that passed over the forest, and even so nothing was done until the fire was so widespread that it became uncontrolable. .As it is,it is painful to recognize that we really deserve to be a desert,we can"t supervise even a small urban forest, that in bigger countries would be called a bush.
