The stalling tactics you speak of have always been employed simply to gain more time for expropriation of Palestinian land and resources. When Israel has stolen every last bit of land that it can possibly take from the Palestinians, when it has gained control over every possible drop of water, when it has found a way to seize the natural gas reserves off the coast of Gaza, and when it has finally pushed the remaining Palestinian population into impoverished, isolated ghettos, the stalling tactics will end and a diplomatic solution will magically be found to the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. This has been the foremost operating principle of every Israeli government since 1948. Everyone in Israel knows it, and the rest of the world is finally awakening to this fact. There has never been a sincere desire for a comprehensive peace with the Palestinians because that would have precluded the thorough and systematic dispossession of those people. This is the basis of the conflict in Palestine. This is why we witness today the sad events in Lebanon, in northern Israel, and in Gaza, even as construction of the wall continues apace and Palestinians are being methodically excluded from their ancestral lands in the Jordan Valley and throughout the West Bank.

Israel's angry, bitter left must reclaim the language of hope

We leftists whine and complain, we only talk about how bleak and hopeless life is in Israel. We alienate all those Israelis whose support we need to bring political change.
