You are correct, of course. But for those like Yishai Cohen or those of the Orthodox establishment, what you say is meaningless. It is meaningless because it is based on priciples which are man made, based on humanism and concepts of the rights of man. This is meaningless for them; it has no content. What is imperative are ones obligations to Torah, not the creations of man. This is especially true in the area of personal matters, ie from birth to grave and in the obligations toward women and non-Jews that would never comport with any secular democracy where there is a concept of individual rights.
