This needs to be spelled out. On the surface it appears meaningless, hence Abbas' comment "Israel can call itself what it likes...", so consequently it must essentially be code for some pertinent issue, but what? Clearly a Palestinian cannot accede any decisions pertaining to Israel's Arab minority, so perhaps it has something to do with Palestinians and rigth of return. That seem at least plausible and perhaps it is an attempt to reach peace with no accommodation for refugees since it is a given that no peace terms would include return to the "Jewish" state. In any case whatever the issue it clearly need be spelled out as at this point it appears purely symbolic and negative in the sense that it appears superficially to be a means to avoid serious negotiations.

When senior party members spout vile anti-Jewish theories and at the same time insist they are in no way anti-Semites, they truly believe they are not lying.09:39 01.05.16 | 11 comments
