Murdered by their Arab neighbors. Hebron has a very long and ancient Jewish history and presence. Suffice to say, of those Jews who live there today, most are not descendants of the ancient community (some did survive). That being so the situation today is terrible and not fair to the Palestinians, I agree. But a solution is very difficult. Their are very strong Jewish ties to Hebron ( which are always denied by the Palestinians) Until a comprehensive solution is found Hebron will have to wait it out. The soldiers there are their to keep the peace until a solution is found. If only both groups could get along and enjoy each other, that would help a lot. Maybe one day.
