"Readiness is very high. We are determined to strike at those carrying out the attacks, to take action as much as possible to intercept the attack and we are reiterating that responsibility stems from the Gaza Strip. It is not just Islamic Jihad but also Hamas." - Barak// Just recently, PRC originated a terror attack and Israel responded by hitting many targets in Gaza, presumably most of Hamas'. Gaza responded with rockets and Israel agreed to a cease fire because a major operation, like Cast Lead, would have led to more trouble than it was worth. You would think that somebody in official Israel would have learned the lesson, but no such luck. The case now for punishing Hamas for an Islamic Jihad attack from Sinai is even weaker (and stupider). The Jihad is already roaming Sinai, and probably has stores of ammunition there. The attack may be planned by Gaza people, but operationally it has little to do with Hamas or Gaza. Unless Israel expects Islamic Jihad to be dismantled by Hamas in Gaza, which whill not happen, it will be easier to blame the Egyptians for an attack (except that they show good will). In short, don't say stupid things because if an attack occurs, the Israeli public will insist on punishing Hamas as promised and the leaders will have to carry out their stupid promises.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, February 16, 2016.

If Merkel also criticizes Israel, life is not a piece of cremeschnitte

The Israeli reaction to Der Spiegel's report on the German chancellor's frustration with Netanyahu was ridiculous, even Orwellian; as if Israelis were aliens who had just landed from another planet.

Hundreds killed in Aleppo foretell a major political achievement for Assad

The fighting highlights how Russia is winning at the West's expense, and underscores the paradox in which the West (together with Russia) focuses on ISIS while Assad regime continues to kill Syrian civilians in much greater numbers.

Elie Wiesel.

Newly unearthed version of Elie Wiesel's seminal work is a scathing indictment of God

In Wiesel’s uncensored Hebrew 'Night' manuscript, unveiled here for the first time, the author expresses desire to take revenge on the Hungarians, lashes out at fellow Jews and describes sexual scenes from the train to Auschwitz.
