UN resolutions vies-a vie Israel and a Jewish State did not start in 1947. One needs to go back to the League of Nations. In 1922 all of Palestine was mandated to be the Jewish National Homeland. At the same time massive areas were given to their Arab population. Jews who had been living in the Middle East for over 3000 years were given a small area as a State. Palestine was never a country, it never had a government or a separate ?people,? it was an area which included southern Lebanon, Gaza and all of Jordan. The British chopped up their mandate and eventually the Jewish State was created on a small sliver of land, approximately 10% of the original mandate. The point is that these areas historically should be part of Israel. Prior to 1967 they were not legally an independence State. For 19 years Egypt occupied Gaza and Jordan occupied/annexed the West Bank, without one word of Arab protest. That is why Israel is not an occupier of these areas.
