Why this case was handled in such a bizarre fashion with such inflated charges is a question that must be asked. By choosing charges which would seem to require proof of intent to 'harm' national security the Prosecution has left open the argument that in fact that was not the intent, but rather the intent was to expose criminal behavior hidden by misuse of claims of security. By trying to hide the action has not the prosecution impeached its intentions? Was this wager a Shin Bet, or a Bad Bet? My instinctive reaction is that classified means just that and no one cleared to handle classified materials may betray that trust. Then there are those who misuse the trust implied in having the ability to classify information.
