Some comments from the Rabbinical courts show that this is not in the interests of justice, but is politically-motivated because of the recent PACE resolution. The court has no jurisdiction to order a circumcision in a divorce proceedings if one parent is against it, regardless of their personal views on it - they must abide by Israeli law and Israeli law does not allow forcing a mother to hurt her child, even for religious reasons. There are many Jews in Israel who are against this practice and it is not "meddling" for the government to overrule the Rabbinical court and protect the child. There are many things in Judaism, such as stoning, that Jews have realised have no place in modern society. Many have realised the same about circumcision.
