It appears once again that Mr. Benvenisti lives in the past and enjoys the doom and gloom forcasts he enjoys writing about. I met him once a number of years ago in Chicago. He was a guest speaker at a very left-wing congregation. It was there that he constantly trashed the Jewish state and even offered the conclusion that maybe it would be better that we didn't exist in our present form. I find his half-empty rhetoric tired and boring. All views are important to be heard but his opinions have continued to be in the spirit of lost hope. I think that taking a fresh look at the incredible experiment we call Israel provides not only hope for a better future but social and political justice in the years ahead.
