"What is to be gained by Segev`s ignoring the basic historical truth, and spinning yet another `loksh` for anti- Israel consumption I don`t know." Shalom, let's not be naive here! Journalism is, first and foremost, a business, not a truthful manner of presenting topical affairs to teh public as you might imagine. As a business Journalism in general and Ha'aretz in particular (in this case) has to make money. This website makes no money except via advertising. In order to get advertisers Ha'aretz must show high readership, huge talkback responses allow potential advertisers to see the large number of hitters who respond, and therefore to multiply that figure manyfold and to establish a huge readership. Then they will buy advertising. The larger the figures, the higher the price. That is why Ha'aretz publishes contraversial articles, and even more so, posts contraversial talkback responses from ignoramuses and anti-Zionists and -Semetics. Sad, nachon?
