"I thank the Prime Minister [Benjamin Netanyahu] for the brave decision to return Gilad," Peres said. First of all, I'm extremely happy for Gilad and his family that the deal for his release finally came through. I felt my eyes getting wet when I read it this morning. My sincere congratulations. But I still believe that this deal could/should have been reached years ago and I cannot rid myself of the bad feeling that Bibi pulled it THIS FAR until he saw that he now urgently needed some political popularity after he did not SO WELL at the UN debate two weeks ago. it's just TOO much of a coincidence after all the release delays, it has the bad smell of being politically motivated. God forgive me if I'm wrong though and may have overlooked some of Bibi's "once in a while" human aspects. To me it still looks more like part of a CYA (Cover Your A...) policy. I nevertheless hope that Gilad returns soonest and that he will be in good shape.
