It is a bit disingenuous of you to so condescend in your correction of Baz Mann?s statement. Of the 12 current and former Prime Ministers, only 4 had little or no military backgrounds: the current PM Ahud Olmert, Moshe Sharrett, Levi Eshkol, and Golda Meir. Menahem Begin and Izthak Shamir (a long-time Mossad agent) commanded the underground Etzel and Lehi, respectively, while Ben Gurion was the de facto commander of the Hagganah and an unsurpassed hawk, in both the Yishuv and the early Israel state. Shimon Peres was a product of the defense establishment. Netanyahu was a captain in the IDF?s Matkal. Ahud Olmert was - and is - a hawk whose lack of good judgment is obvious. Only Sharrett and Eshkol could be construed as somewhat moderate, albeit unduly coerced by the Israeli military to do their bidding. The fact is that all Israeli sectors, public and private, are rampant with former military officers who contribute to its siege mentality and are, to say the least, hindrances to peace.
