I was always against the settlement policy, but in recent years I've come to see that without the settlements there probably never would have been a peace process, as flimsy and broken as it is. Only when the Palestinians saw what they envisioned as their future state being eaten away, did they even contemplate recognizing Israel and, at least rhetorically, trying to engage in a peace process. Without the settlements I doubt there would have been any agreements or progess to date. It would still probably be, no negotiation, no recognition, no compromise. Sadly it seems to be getting back to that anyway.
