Ariel and Maale Adumim are way DEEP inside the West Bank. Ariel is almost closer to Jordan than to Israel, actually, and it cuts the WB in two, while Maale Adumim would separate Jerusalem from the rest of the future Palestinian state, making it completely unviable. No Palestinian leader has ever agreed nor will he ever agree to let those settlements remain in Israel. Building in them now is a cynical act of aggression.
