The danger to Israel comes from listening to self-absorbed leaders who can never admit their mistakes, and even worse, re-live them. As a national leader Mr. Beilin failed. He supported a process that in the end resulted in 2,000 Israelis killed from terrorism. To me he is the Israeli-equivalent of Jimmy Carter and Ramsey Clark. He should have the integrity to withdraw from public issues and debate, as did Begin, Meir, and other leaders regarded as having failed the Israeli public in some way. Instead he continues to put himself in the public spotlights. Is that not just serving your own self-image and not the country, Mr. Beilin?
