What consciousness is the principal trying to raise among the students - that Halakchic gender segregation is inherently wrong? Is this the role of public education in Israel? Seriously, I'm asking as someone who doesn't live in Israel. I realize there are deep divisions between religious and secular currents in Israel, but even as a liberal myself, this somehow seems like an overstep on the part of the principal. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
