I was disgusted by Hogan's Hero's, a comedy about a German prisoner of war camp in WW II. There was nothing funny about WW II. The most egregious character was not the incompetent Col. Klink, it was the degenerate Sergeant Schults who 'saw nothing,' 'heard' nothing and 'knew' nothing. Some how every failure, every fiasco, every scandal, every thing that embarrasses the IDF or government of Israel is the fault - the whole fault - of underlings. Underlings who apparently act without any orders or supervision. The number of such cases in just the last few weeks raises two questions. Is the government and high command of the IDF totally out of touch, and without any control? Or are little fish being fried to deflect attention from the venality or incompetence of those at the top? Was Col. Klink incompetent? Was Sgt. Schultz a sleaze? Or were they both vile and disgusting?
