    Semsen, Your are falling for the line the gazillionaires are selling you. One, the tax breaks that the upper percentiles in the States are getting are "only" thirty years old. Prior to that they were paying far more. The money usually went to promoting the infrastructure aka roads, bridges, schools, sewers, police, libraries, . . . If you haven't noticed the bridges are falling down, literally falling down, the levees broke in New Orleans, the public schools are going down the tubes too. That is because . . . yes, you uppper middles as well as the other middles are expected fill the slack. In the meantime the gazillionaires get six and seven figure salaries. I recall too, in those days the profits of the corporations that were taxed "so heavily" were ploughed back into research and development so they could improve the goods they sold. If you haven't read the news lately, more of the manufactured goods you buy in the USA are produced in China where . . .
