If Israel is truly facing an existential threat in the coming years from an emboldened Iran, Syria and their terrorist surrogates, Hamas and Hizbullah, it is time for the politicians to think of the country ahead of themselves. Peretz is not qualified to be the Defense Minister. He has already proven that fact. He needs to swallow his pride and give that job to someone with a deep military background. In fact, the government should evaluate all the failings of the war in Lebanon and get ready for the next war, which unfortunately is surely coming. Upgrade the reserves, fix the Merkava vulnerabilities and develop or fund an anti-missile system for short range missiles.
