Stop supplying palestinians with the bulk of their electric it will save alot. Second solution is a more practical long term one and thats self generation. Industrial areas can build solar walls, we can put solar panels on the roofs of train stations or on balconies in residential buildings there are all perfect designs. Let individuals generate as much as they can themselves and if there is a surplus they can sell it to the grid or if they need more they can buy it from the grid. That puts all the cost on the companies who build the buildings not the taxpayers and it means taxpayers don't need to spend as much money on power stations. In the Golan there is a handful of windmils but there is potential for many more to generate more power, once again cheap renewable energy. During the 60s & 70s there was a shortage of power because Israel needed to import all its fuel so the solar water heaters we all have on our roof was invented and it ws then made law that every residential building must have them. The sort of solar technology I am talking about exists already all thats needed is for governent legislation to put it in place. We can still build the gas fired power stations because self generation alone won't solve the problem but it can provide some of the countries needs which means we can make the gas last longer because we don't need to use as much of it and we don't need to build as many power stations and every one of them cost taxpayers millions and thats before they even buy the fuel to burn.
