Judging by the more scurrilous responses to this from the usual suspects, there are still many out there living behind the barricades of illusion that Segev so aptly describes. And then of course there are those who persist doggedly in labelling anyone who dares suggest that we will have to ultimately leave most if not all of the West Bank as "lefties". That accounts for the majority of Israelis, all Palestinians, most of the Arab world, and if they aren't enough of the 'lefty' club, the vast majority of the rest of civilised world - George W Bush excepted, maybe, cos didn't Dubya also call the settlements illegal, with all that implies? As one who once served in the benighted "enlightened occupation", I'm proud to be a leftie too.
