These profound shifts in US policy are not the whim of one man who happens to sleep in the White House, but rather reflect the conclusions that a very large segment of the US population has slowly reached. Decades of frustrated diplomatic efforts, spent political capital, shifting global realities, and plain ol' public and national exhaustion with this issue are producing a new situation. This is neither "anti-Semitism" nor "anti-Israelism." It is far more troubling: This is what Israel's *friends* are thinking. It's going to be quite a ride. Interesting times.
