The bombing of the Russian airliner reflects the long conflict between Islamic extremists and Egypt that has spread south to the coastal fantasy land.21:26 25.11.15 | 0 comments
Samuel Johnson said many years ago that patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel. In Netanyahu and his cohorts' case, it has always been the first refuge, or default setting. Take Iran (and as a comedian might say, you're welcome to it) .... create existential dread amongst acquiescent Israelis, and the more pressing issue such as local peace, grasping the nettle of the two-state solution, secular and religious harmony, the water shortage etc etc etc can be parked to one side. Netanyahu Mark 2 is as bad as Netanyahu Mark 1 was, or Shamir for that matter: do nothing, sit on your hands. There has rarely been a better time for achieving real peace, with Hamas neutralised and a pro-active American President, but alas, Netanyahu and his colleagues do not have their collective eye on history past and present, or the long-term good of Israel and the Jewish people.
