Wiesel's open letter is a sad testimony to the decline of a towering figure of world Jewry from the last century. The charitable interpretation is that Mr Wiesel simply doesn't understand the present-day reality of non-Jews in Jerusalem, perhaps due to unreliable and biased sources. The less charitable interpretation is that he actually doesn't care and is only interested in furthering the propaganda agenda of AIPAC, the settlers and Bibi's extreme right-wing government.
