I do not believe the article said that Ms Hoffman approached the Kotel in a thong, or a bikini, or braless. I suspect she was properly attired with her knees and elbows clothed and her hair covered (at least with a kippa). She put on a tallit, which covers more than it exposes. And I think she would have been given entry into the Vatican or any church in Rome, thought the same circles then would have condemned her for entering a church and vilified her for her appreciation of art as a gentile perversion.
