""The Syrians wanted the talks to revolve only on the Golan [Heights]," the European diplomats said. "But Israel wanted to first talk about other issues that trouble it, such as [Syria's] ties with Iran and the support for Hezbollah and Hamas, and Syria did not agree." " Translation: Israel repeated their demand of pre-conditions before negotiations on the Golan. Israel demanded yet again that Syria first cut ties with Iran/Hezb/Hamas before Israel would agree to talk about the Golan. Syria said no. Syria repeated their stance that ALL issues must be negotiated in the context of an Israeli withdraw from the Golan, and all other issues can only be discussed in that context. If Israel wants to talk about Iran/Hezb/Hamas, Israel will have to include in the conversation what Israel will offer in exchange. Withdraw from the Golan. Nothing new here.
