We have the same problem in this country. Right after 9/11 popular support was on the side of Pres. Bush and his call: "Your're against us, of with us". Even as we entered Iraq, popular support was high. But the moment the first casualties started rolling in, the media pounced on it as a failure of some kind. Democrats picked up on this theme immediately for political gain, and since then it's been downhill. I'm afraid it will take another attack on our shores to galvanize and purify our "thinking". Watching Israel over the years, from afar, I've long believed a basic mistake was made by allowing "World Opinion" to control the language, the perceptions, of Israel's need for self defence, even its very existence. Most people want peace, perhaps Israel most of all, but peace has never been free or cheap.
