S seems to have forgot that the US has been nearly continuously at war, hot and cold, since Dec 1941. And during most of that time has had REAL, not imaginary, nukes aimed at US military bases. And the nukes were tested and delivery systems proven to work. We have not all had the luxury of living in Boston or Cambridge or worked in Ivory Towers, hundreds of KM away from where the nukes have been aimed. Many grew up building bomb shelters and learning to duck and cover. Yet we lived almost all that time without military censorship. Learning when our government has lied to us has made the US a stronger nation and more secure, not less. When the government pre-approved something for publication, it should not then complain that it should never have been published. And it should not go after the reporter who wrote the story the government approved.
