I am a Jew and a Zionist and I do not criticise what Israel is doing and becoming because I want anti-semitism to "disappear" as you choose to put it. I do it because I believe there is no justification for an illegal civilian occupation or for the unequal treatment for Israel's non-Jewish citizens. I do it because Israel was given to us by the international community after the holocaust and I do not believe we are honouring the six million of of our fellow people who died by building an Israel that finds it acceptable, even virtuous, to subjugate anyone who is not a Jew. I do it because it is not enough for we Jews to have a homeland called Israel, the values it lives by are even more important. I am under no illusions. I do not believe we will ever be rid of anti-semitism or racism or bigotry. I do believe Israel has the capacity to change. Sadly I doubt it has the will to do so.
