Obama's comments about '67 borders seem to be a rorschach test for opponents and supporters. First, he said absolutely nothing new. Land swaps based on '67 as a starting point have been the US position forever and in fact its pretty universally accepted as the starting point for negotiations. Reading talkbacks here though are torn between those who excoriate the US as tool for Israeli imperialism, and those who call him an idiot and willfully misinterpret he's remark's to say he threw Israel under a bus. The interesting question to me is why Netanyahu chose to to misquote and rebuke Obama publicly for trying to return Israel to unaltered '67 borders. methinks he's playing US politics and trying to weaken Obama's ability to apply pressure to him in particular. It seemed personal and rude.to me.
