The Palestinians" are not necessarily indigenous. The UN decided, prior to the partition, that all "Palestinians" who could prove at least 2 years residence in the Mandate would be eligible to be considered Mandate citizens, so the fact that they may have the "right" ID card means nothing as far as birthplace is concerned.. Major "Palestinian figures Yasir Arafat andd Edward Said were born in Egypt. UN Resolution 194, which contai n the verbiage of the ROR provides for not ROR as such, but Righ t of Return or compensation, a very different thing, , to any Palestiniand willing individual who guarantees peaceful relations with the local Jews. None has; they are trying to get the status without making the guarantee. Many Arabs have last names which refer to their place of origin. Thus, al Kurdi means "the Kurd" or "of Kurdistan". One of th e most common such surnames is "al Masri". Al Masris are the press spokesmen for both Hamas and the PLO; another al Masri is a billionaire--read the paper closely, and you will noitice th a t al Masri is one of the larges t clans among the Palestinians. Sorry to disappoint you, but the name means "Egyptian", and its prominence reflects the fact of large scale Arab migration to the Mandate before the partition.
