You are BANG ON!!! I don't live under occupation fortunately. I also don't agree that having the West Bank provides any level of security for Israel. That is now true since both Egypt and Jordan have made peace. However given that small size of the territory of Israel the buffer zone philosophy was probably more of a bargaining chip than anything else. In the absence of any bargaining taking place the chip was useless. Israel should not take any more land from Palestinians. It is stupid and counter productive. Sends the wrong message. However the fact that Hamas refuses to make any kind of statement, even conditionally regarding Israels De Jure and De Facto existence demonstrates that they dont want peace. The Palestinians have a right to free elections, however their choices in government don't have to be accepted, endorsed, or for that matter financed by any other country. Why doesn't the Arab League take care of their Palestinian brothers?
