One of my biggest flaws is my belief in the need to create a morally charged world. In short, I am one of those Jews who believes in the promise of Tikkun Olam, which one of our fellow Jews (formerly of Talkback and now elsewhere) regards as a fallacy. In regards to the case of Iraqi refugees, I am deeply saddened that my country, the United States, has only taken in something like 7,000 of them. We invaded their country and because of that I think we owe them a great moral debt. More Iraqi refugees, especially Iraqis who have endangered their lives in Iraq to help the American troops, should be granted asylum in America. The fact that these poor people are struggling elsewhere deeply troubles me.
