    Saul, I assumed that your response was to me. The answer to whether Syria will dump Iran --Yes, it will for its own benefit. Iran is a "loser country" and in a couple of years it will not provide much economic trade or security for Syria. Assad, the son is quite different from his father. Another reason is the sunni-shi'ite rift also gets played out in Syria, with Assad being a sunni. Assad & Syria will get only one chance to get the Golan back and that's based upon the trading of loyalities from Iran to the Western countries. NOW, Jim Baker for being "mostly off base"--is totally wrong. He and PapaBush did a great job in Iraq War I; building a coalition, receiving funding from various nations,etc etc Baker at the time and since, has been held in high regrd in Wash DC circles (of both parties.)
