If Hamas agrees to honor past agreements, and agrees to a Palestinian state in the occupied terrritories, there appears to be no legitimate reason to not negotiate. And indeed, the Palestinians do indeed have the right to resist the occupation. All people, all nations, have a sovereign obligation to resist occupation. How could the Israelis in good conscience disavow that right? Come on, perhaps with Hamas in the government, this is the most propitious time for Israel to enter into serious discussions. Let us hope that they don't use this as an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
