Don't fret: in that case I'm sure Israel will find something else to torpedo peace prospects with. Of course Israel needs to pretend -- both to herself and to others -- that she 'wants peace.' But the fact is that she doesn't. Israel is wedded to the conflict. The history of the conflict is almost the history of Israel. If the conflict went away, Israel would shortly find it was the primary glue holding the nation together. Under its mantle, Israel pursues all sorts of policies of aggrandizement that would be transparently indefensible in a state of peace. Israel doesn't want peace. She'll never be able to admit that -- but it's true.
