i think learning history and the reasons for the naqba are extremely important, and this is why i don't celebrate this sham. the holocaust resulted in the murder of millions, while the naqba was a result of a failed attempt to destroy israel - a colonial state - which continues until this day. so far, israelis have become full natives of the middle east, yet the palestinians in their misery still deny this. what burston conventiently omits, although the article brings up good points, is that the common holocaust remembrance motto is "Forgive, Never Forget" while it seems like the Palestinian is "Never forgive, never forget; we are a nation of resistance and will liberate our country. I wonder why Israelis weren't kept that militant towards Europeans for all the murder and hate Jews have suffered at their hands. Then again, I guess independence for the Palestinians is the only answer, because that will give them a certain answer: become grown ups. Maybe you should've just told Israelis to grow up, too...?
