Aluf Benn has a fundamental misunderstanding of how the US government works.... 79% of Congress just voted to advise Bush to maintain the total boycott of the Hamas-PA regime. A recent poll of Americans shows the country opposes by 5-1 giving the Hamas PA any land for a state. Rice and Bush are in no position to play hardball with Israel, and why should they -- the Saudis just double crossed them by favoring Hamas in the Mecca deal, and continue to bankroll insurgents killing US troops in Iraq. Bush is not interested in a fight with Congress over Israel when he has his hands full keeping his Iraq policy above water. Rice knows nothing is to be gained by pointing an empty gun at Israel. The game is over, Israel is going to shortly remove the failed Olmert-Peretz regime, and do what must be done to eliminate Hamas. If then, "Palestinian" losers still won't abandon trying to destroy Israel, "the world" will become as disinterested in creating them a state as they were in 1950-67.
