MAny critics say that withdrawal from the occupied territories is a reward for Palestinian terror. THis is obviously incorrect: the continued military oppression of Palestinians has always been the catalyst for Palestinian terror. Each time the IDF killed Palestinians Hamas opens its recruitment center and dozens of new volunteers entered: The IDF and the Israeli 'civil' authority has always been the biggest recruiter for Palestinian terror organisations. When the settlers leave, the IDf has no reason to stay either and support for terrorists will decrease, too. This is good for Israel. Officially elected, Hamas has been under far greater pressure then before to renounce terror. No IDF incursion of Jenin or Nablus could have done that. Hamas has now also the difficulty to show the Palestinians that they are not corrupt and that their governance is more rewarding for the common man then the corrupt Fatah-leadership. This, too, is good for Israel.
