This the Golani Brigade, these guys retook the Hermon in the YK war. These guys are, (used to be?) one of the ELITE formations of the IDF. First we had the retreat from Lebanon (and the film Beaufort), Then we had 2006 and Operation Cast Lead, both failures. Now we've had 75000 men called up forv Gaza and - nothing happened... Something is seriously amiss with the government, no, governance, irrespective of party, and the IDF. Is this the 'Lack of Motivation' Syndrome the IDF talked about since 2006? Abandoning your post on active service is a court martial offence in most armies. Even liable to the death penalty in some. These guys get a week in prison? After they've been 'persuaded' back...? What kind of army is this now...? No wonder Israel's enemies are laughing. And the Haredim threaten to leave the country rather than serve in its defence. It just gets worse, doesn't it?
