Asking for world recognition that the disengagement ended the occupation of Gaza wouldn't have gone very far considering land, sea and air space around and above Gaza are still controlled by Israel, not to mention the repeated ground incursions into the territory. It ain't that easy, I'm afraid -- the occupation doesn't end till the Palestinians have a functioning state that includes control of those very things, as demanded by international law and the states that make that law. Tough, eh?
