What I warn against are simplistic equasions: no strong army...death to all. That is simply untrue. What is worse than the enemies outside, are developments inside. My fear is that we turn ever more militaristic and nationalistic, very much like the German Kaiserreich, and everybody who dares to voice a different opinion is crushed with "you are not with us, we kill you" mentality. We have become entangled with ideas based not on religions but nationalist/ideological ideas, such as calling every little Arab neighbourhood "Jerusalem" and then prefering the death of Israelis over just giving up those areas. That is on the big scale. On the small scale, we despise without question everyone who dares not to hail the army. That is wrong, with or without Arabs. And before you call me a traiter, I do not say just giving in to all our opponents demands and switch off the lights. I say, let us not be drawn into a situation in which the "revolution devours her children".
