I agree that the Palestinians almost certainly could have achieved statehood by now but the rest of the world - including many Jews and Zionists - will never stop demanding an end to the illegal occupation. The occupation is not only wrong for its victims - the Palestinians, it is wrong for we Jews. Stealing someone else's land for ideological reasons can never be acceptable, certainly not in the C21st. If Israel needed a presence in the WB for security reasons it has a military to fullfill that role. There can be no honourable justification for allowing hundreds of thousands of your citizens to live in someone else's land just because it suits them to do so for religious or nationalist reasons or just to get hold of cheaper housing.
