""US Plan Seeks to Wedge Syria from Iran". The "plan" is to get Saudi, Egytians and Jordanians to wrest Syria from Iran. The US will not talk directly or offer anything to Syria (Bush admin does not know diplomacy. They only know how to scold and threaten.) NO American incentives (not yet anyway)." - Dorothy on NYTimes article Let's be happy, Dorothy, that Dumbya at least knows the correct address - Syria. Dumbya doesn't know he needs to pay for favors. (He was getting favors all his life from family and friends for nothing.) 'Paying' to Russia and China would have solved the Iran and N. Korea problems, but this is too strange a concept. Syria must cause trouble, or else it can say good bye to the Golan. They have no leverage other than Hizballah, so what will the Saudis and Egypt tell them? It is a hopeless mission, except that the Syrians will explain, explicitly, to the US thru this exercise, that there will be no peace without the Golan. Maybe Bush will finally understand.
