Israel dealt with the security situation in Lebanon by military means, not by having hundreds of thousands of its citizens live over the border. Why - because no-one wanted to live there because they felt no ideological connection to that land. If Israel needs to have a presence in the WB for security reasons it has a military to fulfill that role. Let's not kid ourselves. The occupation may have - in part only - been based on the need to create a buffer state for protection but more than 60 years later that argument has long since become redundant. Let us call a spade a spade and accept that the settlers are there for ideological reasons or to benefit from cheap housing.
