Why do they need to find a compromise? This is not a synagogue which holds its prayers according to a particular denomination of Judaism. No, it is a national monument and, as such, every Jew is entitled to pray there according to their own tradition. The problem is that many people - you included? - want to treat it as a synagogue whose members are entitled to decide what form of worship they wish to follow. But it isn't a synagogue, never has been and why is it ever likely to become one?!
